Vintage Valentine

vintage valentines

If vintage fashion wasn’t already back ‘in’ the sudden popularity of Mad Men certainly cemented it’s place in the trends. From catwalk to high street we have seen multiple collections with a retro feel and Phase Eight is no exception. There are various fitted floral numbers I love, the issue I have is that the sexy styles sported by the sirens on screen just weren’t made for my boyish frame, I’ve never had much in the way of curves and come Valentines Day I think we all want to look at least a little siren-like, don’t we?  If you’re straight up and down like six o’clock  you can fake it with dresses like the Posy & Polly above which give the illusion of an hour glass by cinching your waist.. this style is also super flattering if you do indeed have a naturally fuller figure, you simply can’t miss with a wrap! I have included another sneaky pick in their in the form of Lulu, I love the print and the absolute best feature of this dress is the material, it’s uncreasable! note: I may have made that word up.  It would be ideal to pack up for a night away with your special someone as you wouldn’t need to worry about keeping it pressed.. perfect!

If you’re going for the retro vibe this V-Day here’s a makeup and hair tutorial to help pull the look together..

The dresses featured in this post are all from the Wedding Guest Collection at Phase Eight.. I may have wandered over in to the bridal section for a moment and there are some absolute beauties! If you’re lucky enough to have the question popped this February 14th might I suggest this for your big day? Gorgeous!

  1. As much as I have loved retro style clothes for years, I will forever curse it for creating this obsession with tight dresses! They’re so awkward to wear – I have an hourglass figure and no tight dress seems to accommodate that any more than it helps boyish figures. Either my boobs fit or my hips do, but never both. I don’t understand them at all!

But I loooove that black dress. So pretty and spring without making me wear pastels, haha.
