On Monday I finally filmed the Essie collection I’ve been promising for months. As you can imagine it was a long one so much as I wanted to expand on my favourites I really had to try and keep it moving to get through them all within a watchable time. What I decided to do was post my top 10 (which is why you’re here) and tell you a little bit about why I love them…
This was one of my first Essie purchases, I’d heard a lot of good things and it absolutely lived up to it’s hype. It’s an opaque milky pink that is flattering even on my pale skin and it takes a maximum of 3 coats to achieve the bottle colour which is impressive for a pastel.
This is what I like to call the green fiji. They’re both that pastel, off white, they share the same great formula and again it can be tough for pale girls to wear such pale shades but this is perfect and one of my most worn.
Mint Candy Apple
I wanted this for so long, I was looking for that on-trend peppermint for last Summer and this hit the nail on the head – so to speak. I will say this, however, as mint’s go I prefer Absolutely Shore, this looks a little better in summer, preferably with a tan whereas that is an all year shade for me.
This was sold out everywhere when I went hunting for it last year so imagine my excitement when it was sent to me by Xtras-Online.co.uk ..very! It’s the fastest drying Essie formula I own and the only one that really only needs one coat. It’s a great one to have for emergency party polish but it doesn’t last long so it’s a one night only affair for me.
If you’ve seen ‘Lady Like’ by Essie this might look like a dupe, the base shade is almost identical but it has an iridescent sheen that makes it so different and one of the most unique in my entire collection. It’s a demure neutral as the name suggests and in some lights it comes off as the mushroom is appears in the bottle but in others it’s almost mauve, beautiful!
This is one of my newer bottles in my collection but no less dear to my heart. I first saw it on MissGlamorazzi and given that I am a dedicated follower I knew I had to have it but it’s such a fab burgundy/plum that looks so polished, perfect for Autumn/Winter and you may have noticed a trend.. not a lot of glitter. I much prefer solid colours and by God are they easier to remove!
I bought this and Trophy Wife at the same and they looked so so similar I thought I was being more than a little daft but they turned out to be very different. This is by far my favourite of the two, it’s a duo chrome that flips between a deep blue/green and purple and in some lights even appears black. It’s a really interesting colour and although I don’t reach for the darker shades in my collection as often I will always wear this.
The perfect ‘Barbie’ pink in my opinion, lovely in Spring/Summer or whenever you want to brighten up your nails. I have a lot of pink’s to choose from but there’s something about this particular shade that just suits my skin tone a little better than all the rest. It’s
Cute As A Button
This is more a coral than a pink and much softer than Pansy. The warmth makes it a little less ‘offensive’ I think, I just love these candy colours, they’re like having little gumdrops on the ends of your fingers. So pretty and again one of my most worn.
Finally… this was a tough decision, I wanted to choose a colour from the recent Winter ’12 collection and it was a toss up between this and Leading Lady but this is so unusual. I have lots of gold and I assumed this would be the same but it has an extra sparkle to it that I just don’t find in others. I know this is a random example but over Christmas when I wore this a lot i noticed that by candlelight it dazzled most, it almost twinkles. Beyond Cozy might look like a standard gold glitter but it’s absolutely not and that’s why it was almost worth the hour it took to remove it 😉
It was so tough to pick my favourites but if I had to narrow down my collection these would be the one’s I’d have to save. What are your favourites?
